Victor Efimovich Tsigal ((ロシア語:Виктор Ефимович Цигаль)) (May 21, 1916 – March 21, 2005〔http://artinvestment.ru/en/news/exhibitions/20090225_zigal_and_shahinian.html〕) was a Russian painter. Tsigal was born into a Jewish family in Odessa in 1916.〔(Russian Jewish Encyclopedia )〕 He became a noted painter and produced a large body of work in the socialist realist style. Tsigal was commissioned to design the new Soviet Rouble bank note which was issued in 1961. He came up with a series of designs depicting scenes from Soviet daily life and Soviet industrial achievements.
